    Help!! I just did the steps up to 02:17, and after that, it kicked me out of my synology log in and I can't find a way to log back in! Do I need to use a different url now? I completed the rests of the steps in the video, and can still use my internet on my laptop fine, but can't access my synology anymore : ( UPDATE: Phew if I put the ethernet cable into a different port in the Synology, I can use my old url again. I would like to know how I can get this working though, not sure what I could have done wrong. My old url was storage:5000. I tried using a new url that matched the new ip, with 192.168.0.99:5000 but it says it takes too long to respond.

    Thanks for the video! Not an expert here, but apparently the SSD caching technique would be beneficial only when using at least a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port and Cat6 cables. What port/cable were you using in this case? If I understand correctly, the normal 1Gbps port and Cat5 won't surpass the speed of an HDD, as this video states: ua-cam.com/video/eRfqC_q3lkM/v-deo.htmlsi=zunJ-JCN2DvbFDkW

    • @DIGIBITE
      @DIGIBITE 21 день тому

      I used cat5 cable. Caching can improve overall data transfer speeds. This is when you might need a faster LAN. But caching also improves IOPS which is good for other things like faster app performance and data access times. Depends what you prefer.

    thanks for the short summary, most tutorials cover really indebt stuff so you giving a quick overview really helped. The mac app is only allowing local files to be added to myphotos. ( not from a mounted drive, and not from a symlink ). If you have two LAN ports. You can keep it conected to the internet and the PC at the same time. Otherwise you can unplug the internet and make accessible only from the PC with direct connection.

      Currently it only supports backup to a USB drive or Synology Cloud. You would need to create VPN connection between both location using Synology routers or other. This would allow maping beestation drive just like I did in the video (but remotely)

    • @DIGIBITE

      It depends on the size of the drive and the storage space used on that drive. Up to 4TB drives it might take few hours. (Mine was nearly empty, so it was an hour or two). There is also an option in settings to maximise the rebuild time.
